The World Netball Foundation (WN Foundation) today announced a partnership with the SES Charitable Foundation that will see the Foundation provide life-changing programmes to 500 girls. The SES Foundation launched its strategy in 2023, which outlines its mission to create inclusive opportunities, environments and partnerships that promote equality and transform lives, and to use the sport of netball to drive positive change around the world.
This is in line with SES’ purpose, which aims to harness the power of sport to create ecosystems that enable girls and young women to fulfil their potential, while promoting the rights of girls and women. To this end, SES provides programmes for adolescent girls and young women aged 10 to 25 years, giving them the opportunity to participate in netball and life skills programmes, focusing on their rights. They also offer leadership pathways and economic justice programmes.
Through this partnership, the SES Foundation will help 500 girls in India, while also helping to build an online community for netball players to connect with girls in the programme, allowing them to learn from each other’s netball and life experiences.
SE Sports Club’s program has seen 8,902 participants since 2022, and the company hopes this new partnership with the WN Foundation will help them empower more girls and young women to exercise their right to reach their full potential through the sport of netball.
Wade Hassan Selman, CEO of SES, said: “We are very pleased to be working with the World Tennis Foundation, which allows us to develop leadership for many adolescent girls and young women, helping them to challenge gender stereotypes, achieve their aspirations and become role models to influence change in their communities. We hope that this partnership will increase the visibility of our work and give us the opportunity to share our model and experience with many grassroots organizations around the world.”
Dame Liz Nicholl DBE, Chair of the WN Foundation, added: “We are delighted to announce the partnership between the World Netball Foundation and SES.
“As a charity, we are passionate about creating new opportunities for people, especially women and girls, to succeed through tennis, and SES does just that through its projects, which allow women and girls not only to play tennis in a safe place, but also to develop leadership skills and learn about their rights, menstruation and important topics such as menstrual hygiene. ”
